If you have a large office, maintaining the floor can be quite a challenge. The extent of the floorspace means there will be more people walking on it, as well as more things placed on it, be it desks, chairs on wheels, heavy filing cabinets, computer equipment and much else besides.
All that means there will be a lot of wear and tear as well as significant scope for accidents, as everything from spilled hot drinks to dropped heavy items could stain, scratch, dent, or even burn areas of flooring.
Of course, one thing you really don’t want is to have an office where the floor is in a poor state of repair. It sends out the wrong signal about office décor and won’t help you maintain a tidy desk policy. It won’t impress visitors either, whether it is someone coming for a job interview or a client. Nor do you want a damaged floor that could pose a trip hazard.
Why Choose Burmatex
For all these reasons, it is important to find carpet tile flooring that is up to the task of being hard-wearing, yet affordable, easy to fit without disruption and yet smart and attractive enough to be an aesthetic asset to your workplace.
This is quite a list and many products just won’t match up. That is why we choose our suppliers carefully – including Burmatex
Burmatex is a British company founded in 1912 as J&F Burrows, based at the 11-acre Victoria Mill site in Ossett, near Wakefield. While so much of West Yorkshire’s textile industry has died out, this thriving enterprise remains at the same home all those years later.
At first, the firm worked in reprocessing textile waste (first rags, and then synthetic materials such as nylon and polyester) for reuse by the industry, an early form of recycling. For this reason, it can fairly be said the company had embraced sustainability and the circular economy long before these concepts had been popularised as ‘green’ imperatives.
Moving Into Carpets
By the late 1960s, J&F Burrows had moved on to making fibre-bonded carpets of its own, introducing its first carpet making machine in 1967. The company changed its name to Burmatex in 1972.
It was at that point that the firm introduced its second carpet making machine and began producing tiled carpets. While the backing for the carpets was initially imported, it has been made on-site at an attached plant since 1980. Since 1986 the firm has focused specifically on the making of carpet tiles.
These various aspects of the company’s history may fit very well with what customers want; a British firm with strong traditions but a commitment to advancement and innovation, with over a century of history and half a century of experience in making carpet tiles. They have a track record to be proud of and their products have stood the test of time.
A Go To Product
We offer several ranges of Burmatex carpet tiles and planks. These include the Go To Carpet Tiles, which measure 500mm x 500mm. Available in stylish design options (16 plain, four stripes), these durable carpets are made of recycled nylon with a backing composed of recycled BioBase material. They are 5.5mm thick and have a 15-year warranty.
This is a popular option for those who want great carpets with quick and easy installation, something that is essential to ensure an office is not out of action so everyone can get back to work. You could get them fitted at the weekend and have a fine new surface for everyone to walk in on come Monday morning.
Say Thanks For Planks
Another option is to go for elongated carpet planks. This is on offer in the form of the brand’s Tivoli carpet planks. These low-level loop nylon carpets are available in 26 different colours to offer a range of different shades you can choose from, with each plank measuring 25 cm by 100 cm. The backing is 75 per cent recycled Accummen.
These carpet planks are 6.5 mm thick, making them a slightly more hard-wearing surface than the Go To tiles, so they may be best for the areas of the office that see the greatest footfall. The product comes with a ten-year warranty.
Burmatex epitomises the kind of flooring products we love to stock: tough, reliable, easy to install, sustainable, and coming from suppliers with a strong track record in the industry. Burmatex also offers the opportunity to buy British.
If you choose these for your office floor, you will be delighted you did, enjoying the benefits of a manufacturer whose expertise in the synthetic carpet sector has been proven time and time again.
